Semantics Translation Services

Semantics is a translation services provider located in Thessaloniki, Greece. Our team is comprised of professional freelance translators providing high quality translation, editing and proofreading services. Our clients include small to medium-sized and large companies in Greece and abroad, as well as private individuals.

Words matter!

In a global environment the ability to communicate effectively can be a challenge. Bilingual professional communication mediated and supported by translators makes an essential contribution to helping people to overcome the language barrier. An area of significant growth in the translation industry in recent decades has been the process of language localisation, through which a product or content products is, linguistically and culturally, tailored to meet the needs of a specific market (a “locale”). Thus, translating requires more work than a simple transfer of words from one language to another. Our job is to convey the original tone and fulfil the text’sintended function in a new audience, which requires excellent writing skills and a good command of the subject matter of the translation.

*Semantics

“It was first Reisig who used the term Semasiologie to describe the scientific field that examines word meanings. Then Breal used the term sémantique (eng. semantics, germ. Semantik) from the Greek noun semantikos (meaning “important” or “ο έχων σημασία”).”
